Traditional Soups from Thailand
This highly appealing product involves a rural customer producing a variety of traditional soups on location, using vegetables, spices, and other ingredients from nearby. The soup is cooked with relatively low fat (about 5% only), then cooked down to a thick broth and freeze-dried. The product is sold at a premium and is already packaged on location into single-meal portions. The noodles are added in the destination country, where it is also packaged and branded by resellers. This family business dries 50 kg of broth/24h, resulting in about 10kg of soup powder, which is then packed into 500 pieces of 20g packages, selling each at about 40 cents. This results in a turnover of about 5000 EUR/month at costs around 2500 EUR, including the financing of the FD440 Freeze Dryer.
